I am a skilled, trauma-informed therapist with a dynamic yet easygoing approach tailored to the client's / family's specific needs. I bring15 years of experience working with children, families, individuals, and communities, and love working with people from diverse backgrounds and cultures. My approach is always client-centered because the relationship is always what’s most important. I am a Certified Advanced-Level ART Clinician as well as a Registered Play Therapist (RPT).
ART (Accelerated Resolution Therapy) is an evidence-based model and extremely useful tool, particularly for trauma/PTSD and anxiety, for ages 10 an up. It is an eye movement therapy similar to - but actually quicker than - EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing). I have used ART successfully with dozens of clients. It can quickly reduce the "hold" that negative memories and images have over a client. The beauty of ART is that the details (especially important when trauma-related) need not be disclosed in order for healing to occur.
I work with children as young as age two, utilizing play, art, sand tray, and (as appropriate) interactive talk therapy to create a safe environment in order to explore and work through difficult emotions and situations. I involve significant family members in a likewise caring way, to promote the healing power of family relationships. Parenting is hard work! I have many years of experience helping caregivers understand and manage challenging family dynamics.
